Auschwitz-Birkenau - Plans for Beautiful Death Camps Anger Holocaust Survivors

Auschwitz-Birkenau - Holocaust survivors are up in arms over a plan to make the memorial at the Auschitz-Birkenau death camps more aesthetic.

The new director of the memorial, Dr. Piotr Cywinski, said he plans to replace the current exhibit with a more attractive one aimed at delivering an educational message against anti-Semitism and racism.

The survivors fear the "improvements" will be more grandiose than the pleasant gardens at Dachau and Sachsenhausen. Noah Flug, president of the Center of Organizations of Holocaust Survivors, "We are opposed to the beautification of the site."
