Kiamesha Lake - Viznitz Community Plans Own Village In Sullivan County

Kiamesha Lake - Viznitz Community Plans Own Village In Sullivan County
The Rockland County-based sect filed papers with the town of Thompson last week to incorporate as the village of Ateres (meaning "Crown") off Route 42 between the village of Monticello and South Fallsburg. It would be the county's seventh village.
The Town Supervisor says there appears to be little the town can do to prevent the creation of a Kiryas Yoel type enclave within the town.

The community wants more control over its zoning and building codes in planning another 200 to 300 homes or condominiums.
"We need certain things in here that they wouldn't allow, like local stores," they said.
The group is not affiliated with Kiryas Yoel MonDroe, but with the Viznitz sect, which has roughly 3,000 followers based in Monsey in Rockland County.

how will this affect the community
in the off season? traffic , schooling etc. will there be a HEBREW DAY SCHOOL THAT CHILDREN LOCALLY CAN GO TO ABOVE 8TH GRADE?
WE ARE LACKING THAT NOW. ALL OF THE LOCAL HEBREW DAY SCHOOL GRADS HAVE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE OR LEAVE THE AREA FOR A JEWISH HIGH SCHOOL.
THIS IS SOMETHING WE NEED IN SULLIVAN COUNTY. WHERE WILL ALL THESE CHILDREN BE SCHOOL?

sullivan does not need another day school but it does not have a hebrew day school for girls above 8th grade. of course boys can always go to a yeshiva but what about the girls? i am aware of the yeshiva in south fallsburg but that is not the same as a day school and its main focus is the boys. i also understand that it is extremely difficult to get in unless you are extremely religious.
there are many jewish children in sullivan county that wish to give thier children a great jewish education, but they are not so religious. what about these children?

Sir-Maddam: If you were not kosher enough for South Fallsburg, then forget about "Gibbers" (the true name of the new wannabe village) big time!

which fight? there is NO FIGHT. Yisroel is in Monsey and allows his brother to be what he wants in Gibbers. They happen to have a great relationship!

Sullivan County will be the next area where Jewish Families will settle as they've settled Mosey and Lakewood. There will be many new schools and institution built to suit Jews of every Orthodox persuasion. The Vishnitz development known as Gibbers, named after the Gibber Hotel where the Yeshiva moved into in 1992, has in recent years welcomed a steady stream of families from Monsey, Williamsburg, Boro Park and beyond that have moved into this rapidly growing community. Whether they'll be approved and form a village or not, the community of religious Jews living in Sullivan County which now number in the hundreds will soon enough number in the thousands. It’s simply a matter of time before the housing crunch and the rising cost of living in the City will force many families to consider a life in the country. True, you won’t find a minyan for maariv or a pizza shop open after 10pm but you will find an abundance of green, nature, parking, cleaner air and above all, peace and quiet.
