U/D On Our Story Of July 7th. That Roosevelt NJ Residents Are Protesting Yeshiva Plans.

We reported at that time that plans to bring a yeshiva to Roosevelt is drawing the community's ire. And that neighbors fear the school could change the small town's character, while the hosting synagogue is hoping the yeshiva will revive its struggling congregation.

Now Roosevelt residents and the Borough Council are grilling the Mayor alleging that the mayor, who is also on the synagogue’s board of trustees, has a personal interest in the school’s development, and some residents are calling for his resignation.
Residents packed Borough, demanding more information about the mayor’s involvement with Congregation Anshei Roosevelt and its plan to open an Orthodox day school, or yeshiva, for high school-age boys at the Roosevelt Synagogue on Homestead Lane.

The council will discuss the request for the Mayor’s resignation at the July 18 meeting.
