NY Mayor Bloomberg Buying Mansion In Florida
New York - Mayor Michael Bloomberg has a contract to buy a large Wellington home on 11 acres of prime horse-country land, in Florida.
Although no confirmation came from the mayor's office, word in the gated community of Mallet Hill is that If all's well, Bloomberg will be paying about $9 million for a 10,000-square-foot Mizner-style home, a horse barn and three lots adjacent to the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club. The contract was signed quietly three weeks ago.
Bloomberg, 64, whose media fortune is estimated at $5 billion, is expected to use the home for winter vacations. But his plans also include building a private show-jumping ring for his daughter, an up-and-coming rider who could qualify for the next Olympics.
She owns a house at the nearby Equestrian Club Estates but not enough land to train.
