Derby, UK - Jewish Cemetery Attacked
Derby, UK - A Jewish cemetery was targeted in the early hours today in a suspected race-hate attack.
Between 30 and 40 graves were uprooted and smashed in the Jewish section of the Nottingham Road cemetery in Derby.
Two 22-year-old men are being questioned by detectives in connection with the attack.
Police say they are treating the incident as a suspected race-hate crime, but after talks with community leaders they do not think relations between Jewish people and the wider community will be affected. "There is a very small Jewish community in Derby, less than 10 in total and there are no synagogues in the town.
It is estimated that repairs to the site will cost around £30,000.
