Brooklyn, NY - Dip in Anti-Semitism Crimes

New York, NY - Anti-Semitism was down in the city and around the country, but was on the rise in the state as a whole.

219 incidents were reported - including threats, vandalism and harassment - in the city, eight fewer than 2004. The decline was led by Brooklyn, which saw 51 incidents, 20 fewer than the previous year. The other boroughs reported slight increases. There were 381 incidents across the state, up from 351 the prior year.
The most dramatic increase was found on Long Island - where the number of incidents rose to 107, up from 78 in 2004.
Nationally, 1,775 cases of anti-Semitism were reported, a 3 percent decline from 2004.
