Meron, Israel - More Than 500,000 People Attended The Festivities

Meron, Israel - Authority's are estimating that more than 500,000 Jews made their way to Meron this Lag B'Omer. The figure is similar to the numbers of people who attended the Lag B'Omer events in Meron last year. Meron is the northern Israeli town where Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, first redactor of the mystical teachings of Judaism, is buried.

Without going into specifics, the authority's had some words of criticism for the police: "There is a dynamic of collaboration and there should be a clear division, that some people are better able to understand the needs of the Hareidi-religious population and [the police] should handle their own matters. It did not effect the general public and I hope that next year it will improve."
