Morristown, NJ - Yeshiva Student Arrested after Punching a Man

Morristown, NJ - A student of the Yeshiva of America was arrested for punching a man, trying to steal his car and then "mooning" onlookers.

Police were called by a resident of Tikvah Way, a residential condominium area for the yeshiva community, after he approached Yaakov Lipskier, 19, of Crown Heights, N.Y., a student, who appeared to be intoxicated and walking on the street.
The resident asked Lipskier if he needed help and even offered him a ride home. Police said Lipskier responded by grabbing the man's car keys and then got into the man's car and tried to put the car into reverse.
When the man tried to stop Lipskier, the yeshiva student punched the man in the face. Lipskier then got out of the car, threw the car keys to the ground and mooned onlookers that was attracted by the commotion.

Police soon found Lipskier farther up the road. He was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft and lewdness and released on $5,000 bail.

I am currently living in Morristown, and let me set the "record" straight. This bochur is not affiliated with the yeshiva, he was visiting morristown. He went to a friends home and got drunk, as, sadly, many bochurim do these days. While the story is true, the yeshiva should not be besmirched. Perhaps a call to the parents of our time to wake up and see that times are changing.

As "many bochurim do these days"?? Perhaps in Lubavitch circles.

While no groups are immune anymore - i do not think it is common in Yeshivishe, or Chassidic, non-Lubavitch circles. I wonder if it is more common in Chabad - particulalrly with the focus on fabrengen and drinking.

I gotta admit its not just chabad really guys, its sucks out there and todays youth are in trouble. Granted it is really tough in lubavitch b/c of the status quo with the rebbe issue/no rebbe but every sect has its bag.

    Ditto to 11:40.

BTW, yes, you can daven for anyone and everyone and yes, every prayer is precious to Hashem.

The guy/gal who has a problem with that should examine the strength of his/her faith in the One Above, the Almighty.

Drinking is a major problem mit inzer kinder. It makes no differnce if its CH or anyone else. To be stuck on that is mishiga. Nebach plenty of other chasidish, litvish, and middle of the road yeshivas have that problem. Its an epidemic that needs to be addressed and dealt with. Stopping l'chaims for any no good reason is a good start.
