Sullivan County, NY - The Only Hospital Has Slow Summer

Sullivan County, NY - Sullivan County's only hospital is usually hopping in August.
But not this year. Business at Catskill Regional Medical Center is down significantly in the wake of its blowup with Crystal Run Healthcare, said CEO Arthur Brien.

While the hospital is usually more than 95 percent full in late July and August, this year, it's running more like 65 or 70 percent. And that's bad news. "When we're at 90, 95 percent, that's when we make money," Brien said.
But this is the busy season, and they're losing. Does that mean more layoffs when things slow down even more in the fall? We'll see. "We don't have a lot of fat at this point," Brien said. "It's really hard to start cutting because you might start hurting patient care. We don't want to do that."

No loss for this hospital to suffer a little bit. After many dealings with them, they clearly are incapable of dealing with routine medical issues and I would not refer my dog to them even in an emergency.
