Baltimore, MD - Shomrim Meets The Guardian Angels After an Increase in Violence on Shabbos
Baltimore, MD - Upper Park Heights could be under the protection of one of the nation’s most famous volunteer security groups the Guardian Angels. They are looking to bring their no-nonsense, quiet and respectful presence to Park Heights streets, according to Marcus Dent, Baltimore coordinator of the Guardian Angels.
The group was alerted by a private citizen of the rise in break-ins from last fall, and the occasional spate of personal attacks on Jewish residents, many happening during Shabbas.
They had two meetings with the community security group Shomrim in recent months, and Guardian Angels founder Mr. Sliwa himself visited the area and joined a meeting with the Shomrim at the Pikesville Hilton, Mr. Sliwa said that he had worked with Jewish communities in the past, and that he was very familiar with Shabbas and holiday rituals and practices, such as walking home at later hours from festive meals or eating outside in a sukkah.
Abraham Sacharow, a community member who was attacked and beaten by youths on a Shabbas night near Menlo Drive, said at the meeting, that one of the perps even waved a revolver in his face. "There’s no patrol on Shabbos," he said. "There needs to be some sort of feeling of security."

There was a meeting a few months back. It was supposed to be a way for the NWD (north-west district) of the Baltimore PD to hear the grievances of the community and let the NWD officers address them. Unfortunately, it was a regular chinese firedrill. The only real thing to come of it was the publicizing of the fact that the NWD streets *WAY* too few patrol cars. (And, there tends to be at least 1 if not 2 of those at the 7-11 on Fords Lane most hours of the day.) When will the beheimos learn that the one time to *NOT* mug a frum Jew is Friday night because there is nothing to be gained from it. It's like the time that a friend was mugged on a friday night on the Upper West Side. The thugs didn't believe him that he had no money on him. If it takes Curtis to bring about change.... Elect him to the city council this Tuesday! (Okay, so that's not possible. But, how come I haven't heard any of the candidates for anything talk about safety? Primary is in two days!!)
