Lvov, Ukraine - Mass Grave Found With Jewish Remains

Lvov, Ukraine - Hundreds of Jewish skeletons were uncovered in a mass grave hidden in a forest next to the city of Lvov in Ukraine, all massacred during the Second World War. The remains were uncovered in one of the 500 sites that a delegation of investigative members are planning on excavating.

The delegation members began examining areas around Lvov located in western Ukraine.
Before the Second World War, about 110,000 Jews lived in Lvov, and with Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union in June of 1941, this city and the surrounding area was one of the first ones that were invaded.

“One of the sites that the elderly told us about was in a small village next to Lvov, where there is a forest next to a Jewish cemetery,” said one of the delegation members. “We used metal detectors to locate the exact area by detecting the bullets.” "The metal detectors went off exactly in that area. They began digging, and two meters down, the remains began to surface. Hundreds of skulls and bare skeletons were counted in the grave site. The years in which the bullets were manufactured were engraved on the bullets recovered from the remains – 1941, 1939 – as well as the country in which they were manufactured – Germany.

The delegation members estimated that in this mass grave alone some 1,800 Jews were buried. They said that after the grave was uncovered, Ukrainian authorities agreed for a religious burial ceremony to be organized with the participation of a rabbi from Lvov, to recognize the area as a Jewish burial.

The city mentioned above is called “BUSK” which is located in the Lviv region. A commemoration ceremony was conducted at the site by the Rabbi of Lviv Rabbi Mordechai S. Bald.

Unfortunately, it’s the local peasants who wanted to desecrate the holy martyrs. They were going to build garages etc. on the mass graves (there are a few of them next to each other). Not to enable the locals to dig and search for gold teeth, they poured a thick layer of cement on the sites which will follow up with a fence around the whole area.

Concerning the Kedushas Tzion the Bobov’er Rebbe.
Rabbi Ben Tzion Halbershtam HY”D, was murdered in the forest in the outskirts of Lviv. It’s about 30 miles away from the above site. There are unfortunately hundreds of holy sites who are crying out for someone to care for them. Namely, to register it as a holy site so it can be protected by LAW. And to put a fence around it so the locals don’t build on it etc.
