Frankfurt, Germany - Neo-Nazis Attack Jewish Memorial

Frankfurt, Germany - A group of German neo-Nazis, some shouting "Sieg Heil", rampaged in the eastern city of Frankfurt on Oder and destroyed wreaths placed to mark the anniversary of the 1938 Nazi pogrom against the Jews.

Earlier in the day President Horst Koehler, attended the consecration of a new synagogue in Munich, warned that anti-Semitism was still present in Germany.
The new synagogue is near the building where Nazi propaganda chief Josef Goebbels delivered the speech that paved the way for the Nov. 9-10, 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom. Roused by the speech, mobs destroyed hundreds of synagogues across Germany and in parts of Austria, ransacked Jewish homes and stores and attacked Jews, in some cases beating them to death.
