Monticello - A fire destroyed the clubhouse at the Town and Country Resort Community off Route 42 early yesterday.
The blaze was called in about 4 a.m. About a quarter of the roughly 8,000-square-foot building off Forestburgh Road was in flames when firefighters arrived, said Marc Friedland, first assistant chief of the Monticello Fire Department.
No injuries were reported.
A large propane tank at the rear of the building then ignited, fueling the fast-moving fire.
Firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to other units. No other buildings were damaged, Friedland said.
Monticello police Chief Doug Solomon said the cause of the fire is undetermined.
