Monsey, NY - Wal-Mart Developer To Hold Meeting
Monsey, NY - The developer of a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter will hold a open house tomorrow to further discuss traffic, environmental and economic studies.
The open house, to run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Montebello, comes a week after opponents to the project held a meeting blasting the proposed store.

well the mom and pop inzir stores that sell products at a premium will be hurt but I dont think that much. when pathmark moved into BoroPark everyone was worried it would kill 13th ave but it didnt! Same with ShopRite on MacD and I.

t & a is gone--and place is up for rent--rumor is that owner is looking ot build office buildings / professional offices there in the future.
differnce with walmart in monsey proper is that in bklyn one can walk to any stores--and most do not use a car to shop, here in monsey EVERYTHING and EVERYONE needs a car to get ANYWHERE--and one is in a car why not go to walmart. no question the haimeshe stores will be hurt--advantages are: 1--better prices at frum sotres PLEASE we need them--2-- walmart does not deliver--and most chassidishe families need delivery bec. the women who shop cannot shlep their huge orders home by hand and they do not drive. so...
