Religious Jewish leaders around the nation are helping out in seeking refuge for victims from recent hurricanes.

About 10,000 Jews lived in the New Orleans area, most of them are about to celebrate the upcoming holidays in alien environments.

So orthodox Jews have found housing for evacuees - in cities where they've sought refuge - near congregations so they can observe the Jewish prohibition against driving on the High Holy Days.
