Homeowners Policy Covers Shootings by Son
The Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled that an insurance company might have to pay $1.8 million if the lone survivor and relatives of five other victims of a shooting spree win lawsuits against the attacker's parents.
Donegal Mutual Insurance Co. would have to pay the amount under a homeowners
policy held by Andrejs and Inese Baumhammers that covers the actions of
their son Richard, who fatally shot a jewish nebigher.
Richard Baumhammers, an unemployed attorney, was living with his parents when he reportedly walked out of his Mount Lebanon home on April 28, 2000, and shot his Jewish neighbor.
He was convicted and sentenced to death for targeting his victim because of their religious or ethnic background.
