Staten Island - Deputy Police Chief Touts Promising Crime Stats
Staten Island - Crime on the Island plummeted 36 percent in the first seven weeks of the current year -- a development that the Island's top cop said stunned even him, as he trumpeted the statistic.
"Citywide crime numbers have flatlined," noted Deputy Chief Albert Girimonte. "But this is our ninth year of declines. I'm proud of that. ... History is still being made."
