Monsey, NY - Man Wants Sign Reinstalled
Monsey, NY - For a few months now, Romanowski said, he's been trying to get the town of Ramapo to reinstall a no-left-turn sign on Maple Avenue. "When the sidewalks were put in," he said, "that sign came down and was never put back up."
The sign is to keep westbound traffic on Maple Avenue from making a left turn into the parking lot of Congregation Vyoal Moshe D'Satmer.
Instead, traffic destined for the synagogue is to turn left onto Monsey Boulevard and into another entrance to the lot.
The intent is to prevent traffic backups on the busier Maple Avenue, said Paul Gdanski, an engineer with the town's Public Works Department.
Romanowski, who lives nearby on Maple Avenue, said he went back and forth between the town Building Department, the Public Works Department and Highway Department in his attempt to get the sign returned to its rightful place, but with no success.
