London, England - Shake-Up Will Lead To Closure Of Jewish Care Homes

London, England - Pensioners in Golders Green and Hampstead Garden Suburb are devastated after Jewish Care announced the closure of a daycentre and three residential homes.

The charity revealed the Michael Sobell Community Centre, in Limes Avenue, Golders Green, will be closed by summer next year, along with Balint House residential home in the Suburb.

Shalom House, a mental health centre above the community centre, will be relocated to Edgware and two Suburb facilities, Leo Baeck, a residential care home, and Osmond House, which treats dementia sufferers, will close in two years.

David Lewis, chairman of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Residents Association, said: "I regret any reduction in the facilities for elderly people in the area. Many residents here are Jewish and want to be in a Jewish home close to their family.
