New York - FBI 10 Most-Wanted Fugitive Wanted in Shootings of 3 Troopers Captured

New York - Fugitive Ralph Bucky Phillips suspected of shooting three New York state troopers - one of whom later died - is now in State Police custody, after more than five months on the run.
He gave himself up, walking out of a cornfield near the New York Pennsylvania border, just after 8pm Friday evening with his hands up, after police had tightened their grip on him just before nightfall, with 25 SWAT officers and 12 dogs swept through the cornfield where Phillips was thought to be hiding.
When SWAT officers moved in, Phillips threw his hands up, with no shots fired.
"He could run but he couldn't hide," said State Police Superintendent Wayne Bennett.

Phillips was being taken to the Erie County Jail in Buffalo - the same one from which he broke out in April - and was to be arraigned this morning.
The 44-year-old career thief who broke out of the Buffalo-area jail in April and became the subject of a huge search after shooting a state trooper near Elmira in June. The trooper survived.
Then, he ambushed and shot two New York state troopers on Aug. 31 as they staked out the home of Phillips' former girlfriend. One trooper died on Sunday; the other is in critical condition.
