Three Ramapo teenagers have been charged with burglarizing two synagogues, stealing money from charity boxes, they are also suspected of breaking into 10 other synagogues in Ramapo and stealing cash from the collection boxes between March and Thursday, Ramapo police said today.
A grand jury would hear felony burglary charges against Joshua Zelcer, 17, his brother Aaron, 18, and Uriel Zelcer, 18, who apparently is not related to the brothers. All three live in New Hempstead.
The three were arrested Monday on two felony counts each of third-degree burglary.
Most of the synagogues were in Monsey, New Hempstead or near Spring Valley.
The three young men were released into their parents' custody on $1,000 bail each by Ramapo Justice.
